Caucus & Assembly

Your voice at the Caucus ensures Christian is represented at the County Assembly.

The journey toward real change starts right in your neighborhood. The Colorado Democratic Caucus is your first chance to shape our party’s direction. Join your neighbors for a night of meaningful connection and action, elect your local delegates to the County Assembly and help set the policy priorities that will define the next few years. Every bold movement begins when neighbors gather to decide what’s next. Registration is not required and participation is open to all registered Democrats! To take part, you must be 16 or older and ensure your voter registration is updated to the Democratic party by February 9th. Please note that unlike the general election, unaffiliated voters cannot participate in this specific process.

What is Caucus?

The County Assembly is the decisive stage where the voices from your neighborhood caucus turn into official party action. Here, elected delegates vote on the policy resolutions you submitted and select representatives for the Statewide Assembly. Most importantly, this is the moment where your grassroots choices determine which candidates earn a spot on the primary ballot. Attendance is reserved for those chosen during the caucus process to represent their precincts. These delegates hold the power to finalize the party’s platform and advance the leaders who will run in our county races. It is the vital bridge between local ideas and the actual ballot that voters see in June.

Your Questions Answered

How long will the meeting actually take?

Most precinct caucuses last between 60 to 90 minutes. It involves some light paperwork, electing a precinct leader, and choosing delegates for the County Assembly. It’s a small time commitment and makes a massive impact on the local government.

What is a "Delegate," and should I become one?

A delegate is just a representative for your neighborhood. If you become a delegate for Christian, you agree to attend the County Assembly to officially cast your vote to put him on the ballot. If you want to ensure Christian wins, being a delegate is the single most helpful thing you can do. Sign up Below!

What should I bring with me?

A valid ID (just in case). A bottle of water and a snack and friend! (If they live in your precinct and support Christian, bring them along to double the impact).

Where do I go?

Caucus and Assembly will be held at varying schools accross the county. But pay attention to when yours is held and at which school. It is broken down precint by precint based on address. An easy way to find out is by plugging in your address to this website: https://epcodemparty.org/el-paso-county-precinct-finder-tool/, or if you know your precint number see the list above.

What should I Expect at Caucus?

Check-In & Meet Your Neighbors: You’ll sign in and meet the voters who live right in your precinct.

Elect Precinct Organizers (POs): You will vote for two neighbors to represent your precinct in the local Party for the next two years. These people help set party priorities and keep your neighborhood informed. (And yes, you can run for this yourself!)

The Governor Straw Poll: Your group will take an informal "pulse check" vote for Governor to see where the neighborhood stands.

Elect Delegates to the County Assembly: This is the most important part for Christian! Your precinct will elect a specific number of people to move on to the County Assembly. We need you to volunteer as a delegate to ensure Christian has the votes he needs to get on the ballot.

Submit Platform Ideas: Have an issue you care about? You can submit a short "resolution" or idea (even just a sentence!) that you want the Party to focus on. These ideas help shape the official County Platform.
